HALLOWEEN TREATS
GOOEY MONSTER EYE COOKIES: Do you love baking cookies? Whether for a party or just for your family these Gooey Monster Eye Cookies are such a fun treat. What you’ll need: 1 Yellow Cake Mix Box, ½ cup butter softened, ½ teaspoon vanilla, 1 8oz. bar cream cheese softened, 1 egg, green food coloring, powdered sugar, and candy eyeballs. First, beat the butter, vanilla, egg and cream cheese until light and fluffy. Mix in the cake mix and add green food coloring until it’s the color you want. Chill for 30 minutes. Roll the dough into balls and dip in a bowl of powdered sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 – 12 minutes. Push the eyeballs into the center or all over the cookies after removing them from the oven.
RICE KRISPIE TREAT MONSTERS: Rice Krispie Treat Monsters are the perfect way to add cuteness to Halloween. The candy eyes make them so adorable! What you’ll need: candy melts (pink, vibrant green, blue and orange for example), candy eyes, cooking oil, and a batch of Rice Krispie Treats. You can make the Rice Krispie Treats from scratch using a 9” x 13” baking pan. Dump them on a cutting board and cut into 21 rectangles. Microwave the candy melts for 1 minute, stir, and keep microwaving for 30 seconds at a time until they’re completely melted. Add a little bit of cooking oil (about ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon per ½ cup of candy melts) after they’re melted. The more oil you add, the smother the finish will be after dipping the Rice Krispie Treats. Dip the Rice Krispie Treats into the melted candy, making one end of the treat completely covered. Place the treats on parchment paper to let them harden. Add the candy eyes however you would like!
CHOCOLATE CARAMEL PRETZELS: Cover some pretzels in caramel (peanut butter, chocolate hazelnut spreads and even cookie butter could be used as well!) and then roll them in chopped nuts or toffee bits (whatever toppings you would like). Dip the pretzels in a variety of colored candy melts and decorate them with candy of your choice!
DARK CHOCOLATE HALLOWEEN CHIP COOKIES: If you’re having a Halloween party or just a cookie addict, try out this Dark Chocolate Halloween Chip Cookies! What you’ll need: 2 cups all purpose flour, 2/3 cup Hershey’s special dark cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon baking soda, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1 cup butter (softened), 1 cup granulated sugar, 2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar, 2 eggs, 2 teaspoons vanilla, 1 cup Nestle Halloween baking chips, ½ cup peanut butter chips, ½ cup white chocolate chips, and ½ cup mini Reese’s Pieces baking candies. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix the butter and sugars in a large bowl and beat for 3 – 4 minutes until light. Add the eggs and vanilla, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, combine the Halloween chips, white chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and mini Reese’s Pieces. Gently stir in the 1 ¾ cups of the chips into the batter. Scoop up about 2 tablespoons of cookie dough for each cookie and roll into balls. Bake for 8 – 10 minutes. Move the cookies onto a cooling rack and your festive Halloween cookies are all done and ready to eat!
