BATHING DIY’S

If you love taking baths, check out some of our DIY’S for making it more soothing and fun!

DIY NON-TOXIC BATH FIZZES: These are perfect for gifts with the holiday season! You can choose your own essential oils and dried flowers. These make 2” cubes. What you’ll need: 8 ounces of baking soda, 4 ounces citric acid for fizz, 4 ounces corn starch, 4 ounces Epsom Salts, 2 tsp. water, 2 tsp. of essential oil for the scent and aromatherapy, 2 tsp. apricot oil. You can add edible flowers and lavender for something extra to make them pretty! Mix all of the dry ingredients except for the citric acid in a large mixing bowl. In another bowl, mix the water, essential oil, apricot oil, and food coloring. Combine the two mixtures (they should look like dry/moist sand at this point) until the color is even. You really have to push down with a spatula, rather than stirring. Add citric acid mix again (don’t use your hand because the pure citric acid is abrasive) and don’t add water after that is mixed in. Add in the decorations you like and mix with a spoon. Pack the mixture tightly into the mold and let it sit for 24 hours so it can set before removing. Now you’ve made your own bath fizzes!

DIY DONUT SOAP: If you love donuts, you have to try this donut soap DIY! They are so adorable (just don’t eat them). What you’ll need: x-acto knife, glycerin soap (available at craft stores), 2 tablespoons vanilla extract, silicone donut mold, green and red dye (colors are optional), sprinkles and coconut (toppings are optional, too). Use the x-acto knife to cut a 12-ounce piece of glycerin soap. Place it in a microwave safe liquid measuring cup and microwave for 4 minutes. Stir in the vanilla. Pour the melted soap into a silicone donut mold. Let it cool and harden. Remove the donuts and place on paper. Carefully use an x-acto knife to cut out the center for each donut and set aside. Cut two 6-ounce pieces of glycerin soap and melt separately in microwave safe bowls for 3 minutes. For mint green frosting: take one bowl of 6-ounce melted soap and mix in 9 drops of green dye. Carefully dip the top of each donut until you get the desired thickness. Add the toppings (like sprinkles or coconut) and let it dry. For pink frosting: take one bowl of 6-ounce melted soap and mix in 9 drops of red dye. Dip donuts in frosting and add toppings. Let dry. And now you have some cute donut soaps for your baths!
