FAMILY BREAKFAST
Make some time this month to cook breakfast with your whole family! You could choose a day (like Monday or Wednesday for example) where you absolutely have to commit to making breakfast together. It’s a great way to get the family together and do something you can all enjoy—eat! Here are some recipes we think you should give a try:
APPLE STREUSEL FRENCH TOAST BAKE: If you like French toast, check out this apple streusel French toast for something more flavorful! Here’s what you’ll need for the streusel topping: ½ cup butter, ½ cup light brown sugar, ½ cup all-purpose flour, ½ teaspoon cinnamon, 1 cup chopped pecans. For the French Toast you’ll need: 2 eggs, ½ cup heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon, ¼ teaspoon nutmeg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 2 cans flaky cinnamon rolls, and 1 can apple pie filling. First, you need to make the topping, so preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9”x13” baking dish with cooking spray and set aside. Combine butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and chopped pecans in a bowl until it becomes crumbly. For the French Toast, whisk together eggs, heavy whipping cream, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Open canned cinnamon rolls, slice each roll into eighths, and place the pieces on the baking dish. Generously pour the egg mixture over the top of the cinnamon roll pieces. Evenly spread the filling over the top of the roll pieces and sprinkle the topping over the filling. Bake uncovered for 45 – 60 minutes, until the edges become light brown. Drizzle cinnamon roll icing over the top of the fresh toast bake, and it’s ready to eat!
BREAKFAST QUESADILLAS: Do you like quesadillas? Then try this breakfast recipe! Here’s what you’ll need: 6 slices Jones Dairy Farm Bacon, 6 eggs, salt and pepper, 8oz cheddar cheese (grated or sliced), 8 medium size flour tortillas, salsa, sour cream, and guacamole (optional). First, heat a skillet over medium heat. Place bacon slices on the skillet and cook until crisp and brown (depending on your preference). Once cooled, chop into pieces. Using a bowl, crack the eggs and add water or milk. Whisk until smooth. Pour the eggs into a skillet, season with salt and pepper and scramble until cooked. Cover one flour tortilla with shredded cheese. Top with scrambled eggs and bacon. Place more shredded cheese and another flour tortilla on top. Set the quesadilla in the pan over medium heat and cook until the cheese melts slightly and the tortilla turns golden brown. Flip it over and cook for another couple minutes. Slice and serve with salsa, sour cream and/or guacamole (whatever you prefer)!
CRESCENT BACON BREAKFAST RING: This breakfast ring is loaded full of bacon, eggs and cheese! What you’ll need: 1 can Pillsbury Crescents, 8 slices of cooked bacon, ½ red bell pepper (chopped), ½ green bell pepper (chopped), 5 eggs, 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded), 1 egg for egg wash (optional), and salt and pepper. First, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Beat the eggs and chopped peppers in a bowl and stir. Add the salt and pepper. Cook eggs in a skillet and make them scrambled. Lay the crescent roll on parchment paper in the shape of a star. On each piece of crescent, lay a piece of bacon. Add half of the cheese and the scrambled eggs around the ring and top with the remainder of the cheese. Fold the crescents over and brush with egg wash. Bake for around 20 minutes, until they’re golden brown. Now you have a Crescent Bacon Breakfast Ring the whole family can enjoy!
