DIY FACE MASKS
After a long day of work and school, come home and relax with the family. Use face masks as a way to bond and keep your skin healthy and glowing. Try out some of these DIY masks as a family!
NUTMEG, HONEY AND CINNAMON FACE MASK: This mask is a great way to relax together with the family. First, mix 2 tablespoons of honey with a tablespoon of nutmeg. This should create a thick paste. Once it’s all mixed, apply the mask on your face and keep it on for 30 minutes. Wash off with warm water and softly scrub in circular motions for exfoliation.
AVOCADO EGG WHITE FACE MASK: For the avocado lovers out there . . . give this mask a try! It is if perfect for oily/combination skin. It’s beneficial because of its moisturizing properties. What you’ll need: 1 ripe avocado (pitted, peeled and mashed), 1 egg white, and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Combine the mashed avocado with egg white and lemon juice in a small bowl. Mix until it creates a smooth paste. Cleanse your skin and apply the mask onto your face and let sit for 20 minutes. Rise and apply toner and moisturizer. (This mask is more on the messy side, so try laying down while wearing it.)
COFFEE AND COCOA FACE MASK: This mask works for all skin types. It decreases puffiness and brightens your skin! What you’ll need: 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 4 tablespoons finely ground espresso or coffee beans, 8 tablespoons of a dairy product (whole milk, heavy cream, unflavored yogurt, almond or coconut milk work for this). Use less dairy if you are looking to create a thicker paste. For whole beans, finely grind the beans in a grinder. If using coffee, use the freshly brewed coffee grounds. Mix the coffee and cocoa powder in a bowl. Add the dairy product and stir to create a smooth paste. Stir in honey and apply the mask to you face and neck. Let it dry and rinse off when you’re done. The leftover paste can be kept in the refrigerator for several days!
LEMON AND MILK FACE MASK: What you’ll need: 1 tablespoon full cream milk, 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed), and 1 small slice of lemon. Mix the milk and lemon juice. Stir well. Add in the lemon slice. Leave it for 3 – 4 hours on a table and not in the fridge. Apply it on clean skin and leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing.
